Autobander Film for Superior Holding Strength

Problem

A roofing company that was wrapping roofing shingles using conventional 80-gauge stretch film and an orbital wrapping machine was experiencing frequent film breakage.

Solution

After assessing customer needs, a custom 110-gauge Autobander film was designed and produced for use with the orbital wrapping system.

Result

This robust film structure reduced production downtime as film was no longer breaking. The film also provided a superior holding strength for the shingles which decreased product damages while in transit to customer sites.

AirFlow Vented Stretch Film for Heat and Moisture Dissipation

Solution

Wrapping pallets with products that need venting using the right amount of AirFlow has reduced lengthy cooling times, prevented spoilage, and saved time and money.

Coloured Stretch Film to Reduce Shipment Errors

Problem

Covid-19 caused a spike in demand for an international food processor and a corresponding increase in incorrect shipments. There was a need to differentiate deliveries for individual transportation carriers to reduce shipment errors. The pallet wrapping solution needed to be efficient, provide great load containment and be easily identified for each carrier at a quick glance.

Solution

Coloured stretch film was provided in five colours and each carrier was assigned a unique colour for easy load identification.

Result

A quick and easy recognition system with great load containment was provided for each carrier.   Operators got an efficient and easy-to-maintain system.

Each carrier knows their colour which helps avoid incorrect shipments. This process has been adopted at all of their locations worldwide.

Coloured Banding Film for Quick Inventory Identification

Problem

An international automotive manufacturer works with a daily colour coding system for inventory management. They employed a person to physically attach a sheet of coloured paper on each side of the pallet or bin. Five days of the week; five different colours = lots of paper.  They wanted to find a more efficient and cost-effective system.

Solution

Coloured banding film was provided as a quick and easy solution for wrapping pallets and bins. Each day was assigned a unique colour. Goods on pallets were wrapped first with conventional stretch film and then with a quick round of the appropriate coloured banding film for that day.

Result

A quick wrap with banding film solved identification challenges efficiently and was a cost reduction versus cases of coloured paper. This new process is now becoming a part of operations protocol at all locations worldwide.

Ultra Violet Inhibitor (UVI) Film for Protection Against Sun and UV Ray Exposure

Problem

A commercial nursery was storing unused EPS Styrofoam blocks outdoors. The pallets of blocks were wrapped in conventional film that was breaking down due to exposure to direct sunlight. As a result of this degraded containment, the wind tossed the Styrofoam blocks around the yard, causing irreparable damage to the blocks.

Solution

Precisionrap UVI film was provided.   The Ultra Violet Inhibitor (UVI) protects the film from potential damage caused by prolonged exposure to sunlight and UV rays.

Result

Customer saved time and money by eliminating damage to the styrofoam blocks which are now neatly wrapped and secured in their yard until needed.

Improving Food Presentation with Chef Michael’s Expertise

Problem

A retirement community was experiencing challenges with their peach cobbler and the ½ steam shallow aluminum pan it was prepared in – both were turning black for no known reason.

Solution

Chef Michael reviewed their process and recipe, as this was the only complaint ever for this big volume item.  He discovered that the recipe had a mistake, almost 10x the amount of lemon juice that it required.  Additionally, the retirement home prepped the cobbler 24 hours in advance and left the uncooked product refrigerated in the pan for this time.  Both of these processes were the contributing factors to the black issue.

Result

The retirement community adjusted their recipe and process and the issue was resolved.

PVC Food Film and Improving Food Storage Processes

 Problem

A catering company was experiencing tearing of PVC film that was being used to cover food.

Solution

Chef Michael visited the commissary kitchen to review the current process and determine why this was happening.  He uncovered that the kitchen staff were prepping in advance, covering containers with PVC food film, and then over-wrapping them with aluminum foil. These containers were then put into the freezer. It was identified that the frozen, and very hard aluminum foil was puncturing the PVC when the product was handled.

Result

The catering company changed their process and had no further issues with the PVC film.
